a watteau not a waddle.

i think i've found my dress. the $214 one from Bloomingdales. it feels me. it feels more like a fancy dress i would wear, and less like a costume. it's comfortable. i'm thinking of adding a sparkly belt or thicker ribbon to accentuate the waistline.

perhaps will add a modest, detachable, chiffon Watteau train for the ceremony to add a little pomp and circumstance (and to cover up the unsightly zipper. why didn't they just put it on the side???).

i say "Watteau train" like i've known what that is my entire life. i've known what it looks like, but learned what it's officially called last night.

From WeddingSolutions.com The Watteau train is characterized by the way the single panel attaches to the top of your dress, either at the shoulders or the upper back of the bodice. This train can be the same length as the rest of your gown so that it falls straight down to the ground, or it can extend out behind you for a more dramatic look. Since this type of train is not as common as the others, it can be adapted to fit many different occasions, depending on the way you choose to wear it. If you are having a destination wedding on the beach, and wearing a slinky column dress, a sheer Watteau train would look beautiful by adding just a touch of formality to an otherwise casual look.

President Lyndon Baines Johnson's daughter Luci wore one on her dress (i dig the way her veil is gathered at the tail to make a POUF! dont you?)

so did Empress Josephine.

what i'm saying is, i'm totally in the Watteau demographic.
